About Us
How it Began
At Bench the Bully, our vision is to create a world where all athletes have the same experience regardless of skills or abilities. We promote sportsmanship, inclusion and above all fun. Sports should be about learning and developing athletes in an environment where they feel safe and supported. My son was the victim of bullying by his coach and when it was brought to the attention of the league board which the coach and my wife and I were part of. It was swept under the rug and ultimately we stepped down from the board. By standing up for our son, we were looked on as the odd ones out and our son made the difficult decision to leave a sport he loved rather than face further retaliation from his coach or team. From this experience Bench the Bully was created to bring awareness to bullying in youth sports, provide resources on detection and prevention and allow people to connect and share experiences and advice.
